World Cup confusion!

Posted by: Tony In: Bottles, General, Pubs

Feature ales always surface when there is a national event where England are involved. Pubs all over the country start having guest ales like ‘Golden Glory’ – all sporting the England flag on the pump – luring the ale drinker to give it a go. I’ve tried a few myself and haven’t been overly impressed.

Bottled ale is no exception. Lots of bottled ales are sporting the England flag during the World Cup and a colleague of mine fell victim to the confusion of ‘too many similar logos’

Said colleague bought a couple of bottles of ale with the England flag on the label – and he thought they were damn good. He sent his Mrs out to get some more and she came back with Well’s Bombardier.

As much as I like Bombardier myself, said colleague enjoyed the other one more.

It’s nice to be patriotic during the World Cup – but sort your logos out – or you’ll lose sales !

By the Way – the one that wasn’t Bombardier was England’s Ale – Land o Hope and Glory from the Wychwood brewery 4.5%. Wychwood are famous for their mighty fine Hobgoblin Ale – so I am sure the England’s Ale was good too!
