Starting the evening with a Fuller’s London Pride

Fuller's London Pride

Having lost a fair bit of money predicting football matches this week, I was pleasantly surprised to see my 8 in a row losing streak broken with Portugal beating Mexico.

Now I can go home and have a few beers – happy that I have recovered at least some of the weeks loss. And the first beer of the evening is Fuller’s London Pride

I let this one warm up a bit first, because I have been drinking them at ‘lager cold’ temperatures of late – just to cool down. Today is infinitely milder – and so the beer could be warmer.

This is one of those reliable ales. You find it everywhere – I think I have seen it in pretty much every supermarket and off’y – and it is a fair beer.

At 4.7% it is not as strong as the one’s I have been drinking of late, but it certainly went down well. I’ve had Pride before off the pumps when there is nothing else of interest in the pub – and the bottled variety is pretty much the same – good, reliable, drinkable ale. It is hardly surprising that it is the UK’s best selling ale.

If I got handed a bottle round a mate’s house I’d be happy. I wouldn’t buy it though – simply because there are so many other ones that I am excited about. It’s a good ale – smooth and malty – but not a fabulous ale.

Honeydew and 1845 are far better offerings from Fuller’s in my opinion
